Early mornings with crisp hashbrowns are love.
I was thinking of writing this beautifully worded passage to express my current thoughts but ALAS! I am not capable of such.
Sometimes we just wish for so much but our ability restricts us.
There is only so much we can do.
But before this spirals into an emo post, I want to say that today was amazing.
I would love to pass everyday like today.
I ate alot today but I don't regret it.
With good company, there is good appetite.
AA packages also leave me unspeakably elated.
no matter how over-rated ppl think AA is, I still love them.
Every new day is a gift. Every breath a pleasant surprise.

LAST DAY OF WORK TMW!!
I am so excited!!
I cant wait till 1pm tmw!! :)
Tmw's also the last time I'm playing in TPMC before I leave.
I seem to have less emotion about that fact than I'm probably suppose to have..
I'm really looking forward to the meeting up with ppl and spending more time with everyone part though..
two weeks of real holidaying.
I need to stop spending so much time at home cause everytime I sit on this couch I eat up at least 5 pineapple tarts and a whole lot of other new year goodies.
It doesnt help either that the pineapple tarts practically MELT in my mouth.
16 hours to go!!!!

Science and God.
'Let me explain the problem science has with Jesus Christ.' The atheist
professor of philosophy pauses before his class and then asks one of his
new students to stand.
'You're a Christian, aren't you, son?'
'Yes sir,' the student says.
'So you believe in God?'
'Absolutely.'
'Is God good?'
'Sure! God's good.'
'Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?'
'Yes.'
'Are you good or evil?'
'The Bible says I'm evil.'
The professor grins knowingly. 'Aha! The Bible!' He considers for a
moment.
'Here's one for you. Let's say there's a sick person over here and you
can cure him. You can do it. Would you help him? Would you try?'
'Yes sir, I would.'
'So you're good...!'
'I wouldn't say that.'
'But why not say that? You'd help a sick and maimed person if
you could. Most of us would if we could. But God doesn't.'
The student does not answer, so the professor continues. 'He
doesn't, does he? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer, even
though he prayed to Jesus to heal him How is this Jesus good? Hmmm? Can
you answer that one?'
The student remains silent.
'No, you can't, can you?' the professor says. He takes a sip of
water from a glass on his desk to give the student time to relax.
'Let's start again, young fella Is God good?'
'Er...yes,' the student says.
'Is Satan good?'
The student doesn't hesitate on this one. 'No.'
'Then where does Satan come from?'
The student : 'From...God...'
'That's right. God made Satan, didn't he? Tell me, son. Is there
evil in this world?'
'Yes, sir.'
'Evil's everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything,
correct?'
'Yes.'
'So who created evil?' The professor continued, 'If God created
everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and according to
the principle that our works define who we are, then God is evil.'
Without allowing the student to answer, the professor continues:
'Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible
things, do they exist in this world?'
The student: 'Yes.'
'So who created them?'
The student does not answer again, so the professor repeats his
question. 'Who created them? There is still no answer. Suddenly the
lecturer breaks away to pace in front of the classroom. The class is
mesmerized.
'Tell me,' he continues onto another student. 'Do you believe in
Jesus Christ, son?'
The student's voice is confident: 'Yes, professor, I do.'
The old man stops pacing. 'Science says you have five senses you
use to identify and observe the world around you. Have you ever seen
Jesus?'
'No sir. I've never seen Him'
'Then tell us if you've ever heard your Jesus?'
'No, sir, I have not.'
'Have you ever actually felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or
smelt your Jesus? Have you ever had any sensory perception of Jesus
Christ, or God for that matter?'
'No, sir, I'm afraid I haven't.'
'Yet you still believe in him?'
'Yes.'
'According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable
protocol, science says your God doesn't exist. What do you say to that,
son?'
'Nothing,' the student replies. 'I only have my faith.'
'Yes, faith,' the professor repeats. 'And that is the problem
science has with God. There is no evidence, only faith.'
The student stands quietly for a moment, before asking a
question of his own. 'Professor, is there such thing as heat?'
'Yes,' the professor replies. 'There's heat.'
'And is there such a thing as cold?'
'Yes, son, there's cold too.'
'No sir, there isn't.'
The professor turns to face the student, obviously interested.
The room suddenly becomes very quiet. The student begins to explain.
'You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat,
mega-heat, unlimited heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat, but we
don't have anything called 'cold'. We can hit up to 458 degrees below
zero, which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is
no such thing as cold; otherwise we would be able to go colder than the
lowest -458 degrees. Every body or object is susceptible to study when
it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have
or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-458 F) is the total absence of heat.
You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of
heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat we can measure in thermal units
because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the
absence of it.'
Silence across the room. A pen drops somewhere in the classroom,
sounding like a hammer.
'What about darkness, professor. Is there such a thing as
darkness?'
'Yes,' the professor replies without hesitation. 'What is night
if it isn't darkness?'
'You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the
absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright
light, flashing light, but if you have no light constantly you have
Nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? That's the meaning we use to
define the word. In reality, darkness isn't. If it were, you would be able
to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?'
The professor begins to smile at the student in front of him.
This will be a good semester. 'So what point are you making, young man?'
'Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is
flawed to start with, and so your conclusion must also be flawed.'
The professor's face cannot hide his surprise this time.
'Flawed? Can you explain how?'
'You are working on the premise of duality,' the student
explains. 'You argue that there is life and then there's death; a good
God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something
finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a
thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much
less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life
is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive
thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it.'
'Now tell me, professor. Do you teach your students that they
evolved from a monkey?'
'If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, young
man, yes, of course I do'
'Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?'
The professor begins to shake his head, still smiling, as he
realizes where the argument is going. A very good semester, indeed.
'Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work
and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you
not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a
preacher?'
The class is in uproar. The student remains silent until the
Commotion has subsided.
'To continue the point you were making earlier to the other
student, let me give you an example of what I mean.'
The student looks around the room. 'Is there anyone in the class
who has ever seen the professor's brain?' The class breaks out into
laughter.
'Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor's brain,
felt the professor's brain, touched or smelled the professor's brain? No
one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of
empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no
brain, with all due respect, sir. So if science says you have no brain,
how can we trust your lectures, sir?'
Now the room is silent. The professor just stares at the
student, his face unreadable.
Finally, after what seems an eternity, the old man answers. 'I
guess you'll have to take them on faith.'
'Now, you accept that there is faith, and, in fact, faith exists
with life,' the student continues. 'Now, sir, is there such a thing as
evil?'
Now uncertain, the professor responds, 'Of course, there is. We
see it everyday. It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man.
It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world.
These manifestations are nothing else but evil.'
To this the student replied, 'Evil does not exist sir, or at
least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God.
It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe
the absence of God.
God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when
man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold
that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there
is no light.'
The professor sat down.

pre-departure syndrome
WHAT can I bring and what can I not bring?
What must I declare and what's not necessary?
Is mineral oil cleanser a biological product?
can I bring 3 bottles of shampoo and 3 bottles of conditioner without getting suspected for hair product trafficking?
will the dog sniff out my face cream for which I have no ingredient list?
will I be able to fit all my clothes into the luggage?
I ONLY HAVE 3 MORE WEEKS IN SPORE!
What if I forget to bring something important that cannot be bought in Australia?
Should I buy that Soduku book for flight entertainment?
Should I check in Eeyore or carry him onto the plane?
What if I run out of Shu Uemura! They don't have a counter there :(
What if the stuff I bought online don't come before I fly!!!!!
What if I don't eat enough prata to last me the 11 months!
Will I be able to stand not having teh ping for 11 months? maybe I should buy the packet ones... oh. but will it be quarantined? ARGH.
What if I don't finish saying goodbye to everyone in time..
what if I reach there and then decide I don't really want to go anymore.

The Sister on The Relatives
Even though there are many things we fight about, I have to say that no one says things better than Lydia.
She has this gift that allows her to use simple words to describe situations in such intensity and detail.
She is one I would call upon to argue for me, if the need arises.
Its a waste she isnt a lawyer.
She would earn much more than 50 thou a month.
for some entertainment, here is an excerpt of a piece on my relatives and how they spoiled the sashimi at reunion dinner..
Ever since my grandparents moved into Normanton Park (my dad's apartment that was to be rented out) because no one wanted to take care of them anymore, my uncle and aunties have been nothing but NOISY. There is just so much family politics around that I can not start to begin to tell you everything. One thing is for sure, and that is that my dad's side of the family is pretty screwed up. They pretend to be filial to my grandparents, but in actual fact they cannot stand living with them for one moment. When I grow up, I want to have as little to do with them as possible.
The worst thing is that ALL of them are such cheapos. To turn on the tv, I have to switch on 3-4 switches just to get it on. They rarely use the fan because there is "natural wind" from outside. The switch off even the phone such that no one can contact them. They complain about the fish being "expensive" during CNY, then they ruin it by cutting the yu sheng into big chunks and dumping it into the steamboat. THAT IS NOT HOW YOU EAT YU SHENG YOU IGNORANT FOOLS.
can I add that my aunts are officially afraid of her?
they try to give her money to shut her up but its not workiiiiiiing.. much to leah's and my delight.
we get to see the scrambling that takes place around lydia.
secretly, we wish we had her guts.
well, just sometimes.
LIKE WHEN I HAD TO DEAL WITH THE AH LIAN.
I'm so angry I cant seem to sleep.

ANGER
I AM ANGRY.
the UNHYGIENIC people at face affair at bukit panjang plaza will feel heat of my anger soon. (I hope.)
I was all ready to create this BIG fuss at the shop but I started to feel my anger turn into tears and I wasnt ready to cry right in front of them so I stomped off.
ARGH.
don't go there.
anyway, today was MAJOR relief teaching day. suddenly I became a relief teacher again.
Lessons started from second period all the way till the 3rd last period.
tiring but much more fun than being stuck chopping books or typing some document.
5 more days of work!

I found out today that I still have to work after the CNY break.
I have mixed feelings about it.
On one hand I'm fine with it but on the other, I really do feel like it's time to stop.
But then again, it's only going to be three more days so its fine I guess.
I'm planning to go sleep at 6pm tonight.
I'm already falling asleep but sleeping at 4 will be crazy.
I woke up at 2 again, thinking it was already 6.
Life's pretty boring now with work in the morning and then either going to run errands or coming home and then wait till it's time to sleep.
Life will start being exciting in Feb I guess.
I do want a break soooooon!
the other day I dreamt that deborah yap was being chased by two hot men.
they were both fighting to ask her to marry them.
hurhur..

Now I sleep at 8.30pm and wake up before 8am.
EVEN ON SATURDAYS.
Currently I've already had breakfast AND a snack, watched 3 episodes of cold case, replied my emails, read all the fashion blogs I follow, online window shopped at all the possible sites and blogged.
I thought only kids and old people sleep before 10.
pfft.

I shall resist the urge to slash my jeans.
I keep wanting to do it
but I keep reminding myself I'm not that young anymore and I cannot 'get away with anything' for long anymore.
not that I've been very adventurous.
The most adventurous piece I have is probably my deep V top from AA.
not that it bothers me either.
I feel the need to raid ZARA again.
soon.
even though I wont buy anything.
still.
soon.
I keep wanting to do it

I'M EXCITED.
Eliza came over today and we were planning our schedule for our first two weeks of enrollment and orientation..
(I'm glad she insisted on going earlier cause if I had my way, I would have missed enrollment.)
ANYWAY,
THEY HAVE LES MILLS BODY COMBAT THERE!
Is that AWESOME or IS THAT AWESOME.
and the place they organize it is in the same vicinity of our department!! :) :) :)
LOVE UQ.
Maybe I won't grow that fat after all!!

I did the most ridiculous thing today.
I went into That CD Shop and planned to get a Jazz CD.
After browsing and listening to various samples, I decided on an album.
Problem was that there was no price tag.
But I decided it should be about 30-40 bucks at most right?
NOPE!
IT WAS A WHOOPING 49.90!!!
and the ridiculous thing is, I bought it.
But I guess I'm not that upset about it.
I don't buy CDs much.
And I really wanted a Jazz album.
But its still ridiculous.
FINALLY went for my Health Checkup :)
I spent 5 hours today on my own..
walking around, shopping, health checkup-ing
It was strangely therapeutic.
my life's getting boring.
amanda and debs!! where art thou :(

A quick post before I rush off again..
Today I had to teach a Primary 6 class.
There were a few obnoxious kids who tried to talk back and made my short 3 hours there very difficult.
Good thing that most of the last hour was spent on Listening Comprehension which I happily told them LISTENING comprehension did not consist of ANY verbal action.
To think that I was actually asked to take this class and I agreed at first.
Good thing they realised the need for a more experienced teacher and took me out from this assignment.
The only reason why I'm back in is because of some admin problems with the actual teacher which I pray and hope will resolve by the next week.
So here comes the busy weekend.
Meeting mich later for lunch
Hopefully able to squeeze in medical check up after lunch
Prayer meeting tonight
Sending Joe off after prayer meeting
buy stuff needed for the science lab after church
Dinner with grandparents on Sunday
No time no time!

oh my.. 4 days with no blog entry.
Life's been really REALLY busy.
Even more busy than last year.
I'm now working as a science teacher aid cum relief teacher..
I feel more like the HOD's secretary though..
I have to type out stuff for her, print stuff, make stuff, buy stuff...
this whole week is packed with activities.
This weekend is also filled with William's wedding.
I still have that medical checkup to do..
and I have to apply for some PR thing
Start some form of exercise
pray that someone will come and replace me in my job soon.
I missed sending Amanda and Debs off :(
I miss them already.
But I guess because quite a number of my friends will be away, I wont have to say goodbye to that many when I go...
ok. I only came back for an hour to rest a bit and have lunch.
have to go meet grace now..

Last night I had a really weird dream..
I remember from the point S and I having some sort of a fight where I tried to defend myself from his advances by kicking him where he hurt the most but no matter how hard I kicked, I couldn't defend myself
and then I dont remember what happened after
All I remember was telling M the story about how S won cause I didn't have guns.
and then we joint others at the pool and some idiot let out fish which were actually piranhas and we had to escape from them...
and I threw in pieces of meat to distract the piranhas so that others could escape.
and then I was called to receive some sort of a prize (not related to the piranhas)
and Jacqualine was also a prize winner
we received the prize from this unknown lady and then I started laughing really hard cause I looked at my prize and it still had the label "Happy Birthday Tingyi"
and then I woke up.
