bubble kids, green man plus and a scary beach.

Disclaimer: excuse the horrible photos. didn't have my camera so lousy phone cam had to do.

There was a Pasar malam in TP tonight and on my way home, this booth caught my eye..
kids in HUGE PLASTIC BUBBLES floating on the water!
SUPER ENTERTAINING.
The first thing the uncle does is to place the kid in the 'Bubble'
He then places this nozzle that pushes out air into the opening and inflates it.

Then he pushes the kid into the water..

TOO CUTE!
all the kids in the bubbles were like TINY.
which added to the cute factor.

At the bus stop, I saw this new thing for the elderly.

apparently, by tapping your Senior Citizens EZ link card to this thing at the traffic lights,
you 'notify' the traffic light that you are an old person wanting to cross the road.
and because of that, the green man will stay on for longer, allowing you as a frail elderly person more time to make your way across.
HOW COOL IS THAT!!

I introduced my sister to a mud mask when I got home..
and the fun ensued.....
Scary beach.

TGIF.

Friday was suppose to be a very quiet day but it was everything but.
The whole day was just one thing after another..
and I guess I'm somewhat thankful that I'm jobless.
because if I had work AND all this,
it'll be a little too much.

the afternoon was meeting up with a close and very dear friend...
I dont like it when people get hurt like that.
It's stuff like that which makes me lose a little bit of faith in Love.
The whole thing is just very emo
but bottom line is that no one should be allowed to experience this much sadness and pain :(

POTS was the usual...
I have to start training myself to stand for 2 hours at the keys again.
I'm not getting any younger.
And I'll have to figure out a couple more riffs to play..
I'm starting to sound a lot like a broken record.

After POTS was like... NOISE.
happy noise.
mainly from the berks.
I don't know how they do this every day.
I'm drained after four hours..
I've never been so appreciative of the quiet in my room.
Next week's going to be crazy.
REALLY crazy.

Went back to NUS again to disturb the muggers and bring some tarts and shortbread :)
They weren't really mugging though.
Presenting the iPad ooglers.

and the sleeping bear.

Toshi is going to keel me :P

There was rehearsal in church tonight...
I thought it went okay
but when I came home,
I found out that a team member was hurt by some words said during prayer.
Prayer isn't suppose to hurt fellow believers :(
Praying about something doesn't mean that something is so awful that nothing can save it but God alone.
I believe that in Worship, every single individual in the team NEEDS God's divine intervention.
For without God, there is nothing.
Without Him, the songs we sing and the notes we play will no longer be worship.
I guess people have used prayer as a last resort too often
causing prayer to attach a feeling of hopelessness to the issue or situation.
:(

Shortbread

Since I had the day to myself (FINALLY)
I decided to try my hand at shortbread...
It is incredibly easy to do but incredibly difficult to get right.
I didn't put enough sugar in this batch and so it turned out really plain tasting :(
so while mopping about online, Lianglin suggested I use nutella.
BUT I have NO nutella at home...
BUT I realised that I have left over chocolate chips from the chocolate chip cookies :)
And so.............

THEY LOOK AWESOME NOW:)
I am happy.
I don't know how they taste..
but at least they look pretty :)

Pineapple Tarts Factory

Spikey says HI! :)
Yesterday I trooped down to Aunty Doris' House to learn how to make pineapple tarts from her..
The process is VERY time consuming and requires MUCH detail.
the pattern around the pineapple filling is HANDMADE.
there is no mould for that though someone should seriously consider making one.
First, you cut out the circles and then you slowly pinch the sides using a ragged edged pincer to make the base.
You then paint each of the bases with egg yolk...

Before topping them with pineapple filling which you have made by caramelising pinapples (another long arduous process)..

And then you cut out little shapes to put on the top and paint these shapes with egg yolk too.
These hearts are to help keep the pineapple tarts from sticking when you stack them on top of one another in the container.
When it came to the last few pineapple tarts, we had a small bit of pastry left and so I used it to decorate 4 pineapple tarts a little more elaborately than others.
these pineapple tarts now lie in the depths of geri and dael's stomachs...
unless they have already done their daily business :P

7 hours of work churned out a little over 700 pineapple tarts.

Trays and trays filled with pineapple tarts filled every counter in the relatively huge kitchen...
let me tell you that the 10 bucks you pay for that box of pineapple tarts is WORTH EVERY CENT.

Met up with my 2007 YMLC group this evening..
It's amazing how 3 years later, we still keep in touch :)

Celebrated David's birthday..
and caught up with everyone else...
I'm getting kinda tired explaining to everyone what I'm doing now and where I am in life now..
I'm grateful that so many people are showing concern but do you seriously want to know?
because it is really tiring to explain everything for the 9283954th time...

Ohana means family.

Had HTH coffee with Jia, Mark and Wally today..
We have been in the same cell since sec school and some where along the way, we just became family <3
Mark needs a shave.
Missed wally :(
I love spending time with them...
Childhood friends are the BESTEST :)
During lunch, I ordered Plum Juice and the aunty went:"LUM JOO!"
Which I thought was her way of saying plum juice.
But when my drink came, I got LIME JUICE.
-.-
I DO NOT know how else to order Plum juice.
if lum joo is lime juice, HOW do you say plum juice in 'Kopitiam Aunty' speech?!?

On the topic of not so good Engrish,
Went for service in TP today...
During the sermon, I was kind of cringing at the english...
just a teeny bit :P
took a while for me to distinguish the wit (weed) from the whit (wheat)...
But I came to realize that even my pastor's not so perfect english is divine intervention.
There was a considerable number of newcomers this week...
and somehow I think it is a small part due to the fact that his manner of speech helps in making the heartlanders feel a little more 'at home'.
Put an angmoh-fied pastor up there, and things may be different..
Even our AC bred pastor-in-charge is a little bit beng-ish......

Isn't that amazing...
God turns what society deems as a disadvantage into an advantage in the expansion of His Kingdom!

’Cause it was You who paid the highest price for broken jars of clay. And you still choose to use my life for Your glory displayed.

As the days pass, He becomes more and more amazing :)

PICNIC!

Despite the weather forecast saying it would be cloudy with some showers, it was a SEXY SUNNY DAY :D
Only remembered to take pictures at the start of the picnic..
at least I managed to catch SOME of the happy faces :D

We really should do this every year :)

Let sleeping dogs lie.

Thursday was a very impromptu day.
The original plan was to go see the mummy exhibit at the National Museum but everyone couldn't make it so I went down to NUS in the end...
I MISS THE YONG TAO FU AND THE CRAPPY ICE LEMON TEA.

Spent the rest of the afternoon just sitting around and slacking while the MUGGERS did their work.

then met Geri for twister fries (the awesomest thing in the world)

and Dark Devotion from TCC.
SO sinful but SOOOOO good.

Went to the Loke's today..
I miss hanging out with them..
it's been a LONG time since I've been over to their place.
We went for Zhi Cha

then went back to their place to play killer bunnies but that didn't last very long..
(Notice Jonah's Laser Eyes.)

Jonah was the STAR.
Everyone wanted his attention.
but Linze won HANDS DOWN as the most seductive human toward Jonah.

More of days like this please.
Good company always makes the day better :)

On another note, PLEASE LOOK AT JUNE'S ULTRA CUTE TOY POODLE.

IT IS REALLY LIKE A TOY!
I ALSO WANT!

Outrage of Modesty?

Things like molest and rape always affect me much more emotionally than any other issue.
The not so recent incident during the countdown party made me feel indescribably awful.
(because I cannot stop the video from autoplaying and I really do not want to watch it every time I visit my blog, I will have to just use a link instead of embedding the video here.)
The comments made by Corinna Lim from AWARE speak my sentiments with regard to this situation (bolds, underlines, CAPS, colour and words in parentheses added by me):
The photos show a woman being groped and molested by four men.
It is difficult to give a good analysis of this event because we do not know what led up to it and what ensued. But what we can clearly analyse is the public reaction as expressed on RazorTV.
The majority of interviewees focused on the woman's behaviour instead of that of the men. Many essentially said that she deserved it. It has been suggested that both her actions and her clothing invited this behaviour.
We find this reaction both incredible and disappointing. (x infinity)
A woman who attends a beach party in a bikini is not "asking for it".
Wearing a bikini to a beach party is NOT an invitation to be molested.
Likewise, flirting with a guy is NOT an invitation to be groped or raped by a gang of his friends. Nor is a woman getting drunk consent to letting a stranger put his hands down her pants
. A woman has the right to be safe in a crowd whether she is alone or with her friends, whether she is drunk or sober, whether she is in a bikini or ski suit. To SUGGEST that a woman is obliged to modify her behaviour to assure her safety is to accept that men are SEXUAL PREDATORS (I just assume they all are. keeps me SAFER SINCE SOME PEOPLE ACTUALLY CAN THINK THAT THIS OUTRAGE IS OKAY) and do not need to take responsibility for their actions. We don't accept or believe this. We don't think it is ok to simply say that boys will be boys and girls must beware. We aspire to be a society where men and women respect each other. This is not a world devoid of sex and sexuality but one in which people treat each other with dignity and consideration.

I don't see how people can argue that the girl is NOT being molested.
The guys hands are OBVIOUSLY on the breast of the girl
LOOK AT THE LUST ON HIS FACE.
I felt ABSOLUTELY disgusted when I saw this clip.
My stomach turned inside out and I felt like vomiting when I saw it.
I don't care whether or not you think this girl deserved it.
The act is still ABSOLUTELY wrong.
I just feel really BEYOND EXTREMELY upset that there is even an argument regarding this incident :C

What happened to treating older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, with absolute purity (1 Tim 5:2)???

UPSET TTM.

My AWESOME day.

Woke up at 1pm today..
Don't judge me.
only woke up because Leah came in and asked me to go play tennis with her..
DON'T JUDGE ME.
Hahahaha...
I AM SO UNFIT.
We played for about 10mins..
and then I was like: erm.. BREAK PLEASE.
Leah rolled her eyes at me..
hahaha..
and we breaked for like 10 mins..
then played another 10 mins..
and then break again..
and so on and so forth..
then we went to clementi to buy dinner..
and on our way home I felt like I haven't accomplished much.
So I went for a run..
ran like 4 busstops down and then turned back because I AM SO UNFIT AND I WAS DYING BY THEN.
terrible.

came home and gave M1 a call.
complained about the $130 charge..
it really was their fault because I subscribed for a data plan but they didn't give me one and that's why I got charged $130..
So they waived it..
WHEEE!
told mom and she said: GOOD! Let's go shopping.
hahahahaha...
mom's so cute.
I'm aching from the run
but I like the aches.
today's been pretty good.
I need a job.
I need to stop playing facebook games.
it's sucking my brain juice.

rest, relax and make more plans.

The past few days marked the end of my busy spurt.
From today, I have days off...
like today.
Saturday, I met up with another group of NUS people for some rock band and guitar hero!
FUN FUN FUN..

And we had nasi padang after that..

EVERY dish had chilli in it..
AWESOME.
Loved it.

Went for a swim in the afternoon because the weather was so nice...
I'm going to go more often because I really need the workout after so much of the catching up with friends and eating cakes and sweets and other delicious stuff.
got to get into shape again.
growing old doesn't help make things easier..
my bum's so heavy that I have to DRAG it to swim or workout...
MOVE BUM!
BEFORE YOU GET FAT AND WOBBLY AGAIN.

Calcutta, TAXI TAXI TAXI

Today was the LAST DAY of the attachment at Henry Park Primary..
felt pretty good to be over and done with the early mornings..
I really need some sleep..
And ALOT of exercise.
Met up with drea, shir and ayeeba today...
we were suppose to go cycling (Which was suppose to be my exercise) BUT shir has some problem with her back so we couldn't go...
so we ended up in kbox..
Shir is mostly CRAZY.

Drea caught on to shir's craziness.. that and she's karaoke queen so she doesn't need to see the lyrics.

7 years of friendship and counting... :)

I guess we exercised a little through dancing and going a little crazy...
but I also munched quite a bit..
heh.
I didn't eat that much today but my stomach looks like it is 5 months pregnant :S
I hope the weather is kind tmw.
so that I can go swim and get a little tan...

in life, all you really need is great company.

We celebrated Dad's bday today :D
My dad made me a little peeved today but I shall let him off because it's 'Celebrate Dad's bday' day.
We gave him a RECYCLED present.. hahaha....
MUMMY'S IDEA OK.
hahaha..
but dad's really hard to shop for.
He has 8563923 shirts and ties and what nots already..
so.....
We gave him the vouchers from Steven's party..
heehee..

The pair of LOVE BIRDS. heehee..

Here are some more VERY VERY delayed pictures from my December...
At Steven's party, we saw phenomenal hair on Timothy..

And my mom also held a small party...
where ShiJia made this AWESOME pavlova...

and there was A WHOLE LOT OF FOOD

and I attempted to make a gingerbread tree which started to lean after a while....

And IN JANUARY,
we had a tiny meet up with the two who returned from the far away land of AMERICA
JonOng and Quentin...

LOVE this picture because EVERYONE LOOKS SO HAPPY :D
hate it because my eyes are missing.
I was laughing at the Aunty who helped take this picture..
She was so fierce to liz
"WHY YOU NEVER SMILE?"
hahahaha...
<3
