CH-CH-CH-CHANGE

So I'm 90% done with my intro and methods section of my thesis and I can slack a bit..
I guess I cheated a bit since most of it was done last semester and all I needed to do was to spruce (i like the word spruce) it up a little.
I do need to rewrite my hypotheses to make them a little clearer..
but with that aside,I can talk about more mindless things.
I'm currently hooked on THE OC.
I know I'm SO late in watching it but oh well..
it's starting to get a little boring.
Ryan's always impulsive
Marissa is always being too nice and making people fall in love with her
Seth is so cute but so stupid most of the time
Summer is actually the most tolerable at the moment.
90210 was really annoying after a while as well.
nothing beats GG.

I've been eating ALOT of peanut butter toasts.
I've had three today already.
I had TwO yesterday
and a couple more the day before..
I never liked peanut butter before
now I'm hooked to the sticky rich taste.
I'M EVOLVING.

I'm stepping up to be a little more active in the fellowship group I'm attending..
going for BBQs, leading worship..
but then I'm also going to stop going soon since I'm moving...
I'm going to have to join another one.
And find another church.
change is always exciting.

Talking about change, I really need a hair trim.
I haven't cut my hair since the last time I went for the $10 cut at toa payoh with Shing.
I can't remember when that was exactly...
but it has been at least 6 months since I last trimmed my hair.

I'm also going to find better jobs this semester so I'll get better pay and be able to help out with the grocery buying and bills.
CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE :)

11 days to THE MOVE!
YIPEE!!

berries of straw

I had a long sermon-like blog entry ready for today..
but I shall just write the key idea: The closer you are to God, the worse your life will be, and the more joy you will have.

I waited for 2 hours for a class that was cancelled.
I feel cheated.
But good thing I had the company of Nelson and Simon
and it was MARKET DAY :)
So the 2 hours wasn't that painful...
though Nelson started to tell me about the little diseases he seems to spot in people.
How Jason has a slight bit of Marfan syndrome
and Simon is generally weird
and how I have eczema (though its really just dryness from winter..)

It's strawberry season and they were selling scarlet red strawberries by the punnet at the market
yummy :P
my weekend has officially begun.

I know.
My timetable rocks.

tasty murder

I had so much steak today.
Had $2 steak from The Fox Hotel for lunch...
TWO DOLLARS LEH!
On our pursuit to obtain the two bucks steak, Choobs and I joined the queue we saw and just started queuing.
SO Singaporean! hahaha..
not knowing exactly what we were queuing for
just queuing based on assumption that its something good. hurhur.
It was AWESOME.
It wasn't actually $2 seeing that we had to buy sides to make it a meal and that came up to $5 but it was still a steal.
3 hours later, we have steak again for dinner.
I think I've had enough meat for now.
I shall have peanut butter and jelly for lunch tmw.

16 days to The Move.

Chicken Cooped

Today, my godgrandparents forced me out of the house.
they insisted I need to go shopping with them and breathe some fresh air.
hahaha..
It was fun actually :)
They are really naggy and all that,
but it was really amusing walking around the mall listening to a couple of seniors express their horror toward high school students' PDAs.
I have almost finished watching 90210 and have secured my tutorial classes for the next semester :)

I'm really nervous about applying for postgrad.
I really don't know how I would handle it if I didn't get a place.
I really have to remind myself that everything is in God's hands and everything will go according to His good and perfect will.

ARGH.
why do I keep allowing my own worries take over!

In the bleak midwinter...

I have been waiting for the longest time to sing that when it TRULY is mid winter...
and because Australia's seasons are opposite to everywhere else in the world..
ITS MID WINTER NOW (when its mid summer everywhere else.)

Dinner was awesome because I was wishing for roast and we had roast for dinner!!
I'm so full and happy now.
All I need now is some brownies with ice-cream.
one month from now....
Winter will be over.
I will bake brownies.
I will bake cookies.
I will bake cupcakes.
I will (try to) bake sticky date cake.
I will bake till the 5 months of baking urges stored up in me is gone!!!
I CAN'T WAIT! :D

Great Beginnings

God is indeed good to us :)
Lydia and I met the property agent this afternoon and gave our ridiculously low offer, crossed our fingers and hoped to win.
just 15 minutes ago, the agent called up to say our RIDICULOUSLY LOW OFFER was accepted.
we managed to shave off 16k from the original price :)
In joys, it is indeed much easier to praise God.

met YS today for lunch and we talked about the recent hillsongs conference.
One of the topics were the 'unexpectedly' quiet closing night rally.
Everyone sort of expected to leave the conference jumping and on fire for more, and for the hillsongs band to close with a worship session that we will all remember
but there was no great worship session
no wild jumping
no screaming our voices hoarse
no clapping till our hands were red.
But I left feeling very full, very satisfied, and very ready for the conference to end and for life to carry on.
Looking back, Louie Giglio's message on the last night was really God inspired.
It is true that we shouldn't boast about the number of hillsongs conferences we have attended.
There is something terribly wrong if we live our lives waiting for the next hillsongs conference where we can feed off the buffet once again.
Our lives should show evidence that we are using the energy we get from this buffet.
Didn't the bible say that those who do not work shouldn't eat? (2 Thessalonians 3:10)
I'm starting to think it might have been referring to more than physical food.
I'm not saying that it is wrong to want to go to as many conferences as possible.
But we shouldn't have to depend on these conferences to fan our passion for God and His work.

I remember Louie taking great pains to show how tiny we are in comparison to the vast universe God has created.
and despite this all, God loves Us.
so what?
what are we doing about it?
what impact does it have on our lives?
are we doing anything different because despite how insignificant we are the Great God of Heaven loves us?
Shouldn't the knowledge of God's indescribable love for us be a Great Beginning of change in our worldly lives?

the more intellectual post

HAPPY BIRTHDAY (pretty eyed perfect haired) CHASE!

Friday, July 17, 2009

I'm not going to blog about sydney anymore cause the photos are up on facebook anyway.
and I dont have 846573052 photos like deb does. hehe.

I just had a VERY SCARY journey home.
But I'm safe now
with a tin of butter cookies and a cup of hot green tea by my side :)
I'm home alone tonight because the GGPs went to gold coast and Lyd's still in sydney (I think.)
so I'm home alone with Simba the dog that needs a haircut.
I shall see how I feel tmw.
If it isn't too cold and I manage to drag myself out of bed,
I'll bring Simba the dog that needs a haircut for a walk and take some nice photos of him :)

Leah has H1N1!
SO EXCITING!

Tomorrow I will write more intellectual things.

He's in charge.

whee!!
I have a 2 day week next sem :)
that means I need to have more discipline to do work..
but its awesome cause I technically have a 5 day weekend and a 2 day week!!
WHEEE!!

I love how God's always in charge no matter what stupid decisions we decide to make.
I got my grades not long ago and I'm faced with the ugly truth that I might not get a perfect score and hence not be able to get into the course of my choice.
I didn't do badly.
In fact, I did really well..
just not well enough for a competitive course like master in clin. psych.
But if I didn't get less than perfect score, I wouldn't have realised that I could actually look into Doctor in clinical psych.
I always knew it was an option but I never seriously considered it.
but today, I was forced to look into it and I realised that it isn't a bad option.

The week at hillsongs taught me alot but I think the conference humbled me more than anything.
I went through most of it feeling very numb.
I didn't allow myself to get sucked into an uncontrollable sea of feelings
I was pretty much filled with skeptical thinking throughout the conference.
I tested everything the speakers said,
I saw most of it as dramatizing the bible and motivational talking..
But one night,
I remember standing there thinking how great God must be to have such a great crowd worshiping him,
how heaven would be a million or gazillion times this huge
how the people on stage would no longer be there
how the whole light display would be replaced by one majestic throne of Glory
how I would be just one out of the millions of millions..
but yet, the one seated on the throne would still know my name and know me personally.
Indeed, How Great is our God.
I love Him more and more.

Sydney day 1

after I landed in sydney, I took the train down to central station to meet Aisyah :)
We went back to her place to put my huge bag down and then went out to explore sydney..
This is where they sell one of the best sticky date puddings.

We then stopped by Glebe markets which sold a whole lot of cool stuff from vintage clothing and jewelery to awesome food.

Then we went to market city which is awesome factory outlet shopping.

Aisyah then treated me to yummy Emperor's puffs.. they are custard filled balls.. yum.

and then we walked to Stones corner for pancakes.

because we ate a WHOLE LOT, we decided to walk the harbour bridge where we saw a fantastic view of the sydney opera house...

we basically ate and walked the whole day..
which is awesome because you see a whole lot more of the city :)

I'M BACK FROM AWESOME SYDNEY!
photos will come soon.
I'm shivering under my blanket now cause I no longer stay in a hotel where there is a heater...
I miss being in sydney already even though I left it only 8 hours ago.
I'm down with a cough and that sucks.
I'm going to sleep and drink warm honey water the next few days.

smell of the earth

Because I sleep away most of the day, my day only consists of night activities..
awesome.
met shumin for dinner at hanaichi on tuesday.
satisfied my bubble tea and sushi craving..
and had great gelato and a great time catching up with shumin..
went to look at 2 apartments today.
I knew who stayed in the apartments just by visiting them.
we didn't see either of the tenants...
but I am very sure the first one is an indian male.
the pictures of indian gods with the many arms around the place and the distinctive smell gave it away.
the pair of shoes at the doorway and the shirts in the closet told me it was a male.
the second one had no signs of race but the stench did tell me that it was definitely a male.
bottles of aftershave and a shaver in the bathroom confirmed my deductions.

why do men smell so bad?
my godgrandpa calls it the earthly smell.
I felt like washing the sheets for them and spraying the place down with air freshener.
maybe my ideal job is to be a cleaner.

the place was really nice but also on the expensive side..
so Lyd and I are going to look at two more this friday before making our final decision.
stupid lisburn house.
I was really looking forward to moving in..
too bad I guess.
oh well.
I trust that God will provide us with a better place :)
